If you are headed out to the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championships this year to race, spectate, or to cheer on a loved one and would like to do a little riding while you are on the island but do not want the hassle of bringing your bike over, or paying those exorbitant bike fees the airlines have been charging these days, then look no further than the Kona Demo Days. Demo Days takes place each year in Kona at the Ford Ironman Expo Village, located downtown on Alii Drive at Hale Halawai.
Planning on training while you are in Kona? There will be more than 40 vendors on-site offering free demo rides on the latest 2011 bikes, race wheels, pedals, shoes, helmets, etc. Take your dream bike out for a quick spin or that key bike session you have scheduled for the day. Take out the same bike each day, or test out a different one each time. Have two rides scheduled in one day? Try one bike in the morning and a different one in the afternoon!
The list of participating manufacturers is huge: Trek, Felt, Cannondale, Argon 18, Kestrel, Fuji, LOOK, Specialized, Ceepo, Cervelo, Orbea, Profile Design, Louis Garneau, Speedplay, Bontrager, Shimano, Zipp, SRAM, Quintana Roo, Pearl Izumi, FSA and many more.
The Ford Ironman Expo Village and Demo Days officially opens at 5:00pm on Tuesday, October 5th. Hours are: Wednesday, October 6th 9am - 4pm; Thursday, October 7th 9am - 4pm & Friday, October 8th 9am - 12noon.
So bring your own shoes, pedals, helmet (or demo there) and get out to Demo Days and test that dream bike you've had your eye on.
