What product are manufacturers showing?
Riding on the skirt-tails of Interbike, the Ford Ironman Demo Days offered competitors and spectators in Kona the chance to try out the industry's latest gear. There were loads of seminars with top pros and coaches, athlete signings, demonstrations, and free giveaways.

Kona 2010 promised to live up to the world's expectation as multisport's most classic race and it certainly was!  With the absence of returning champion and Kona course record holder, Chrissie Wellington, it was an incredible professional and age group race, and of course, a day filled with inspiring stories.

Manufacturers thoughts on the Tri-Market and where it's headed?

Triathlon is here to stay.

Every vendor sees triathlon as a growing segment with no signs of slowing.  The numbers have shown it this year with a significant increase in number of athletes participating in Ironman events all around the world.  Nearly every Ironman and Ironman 70.3 has been sold out.

The big industry news for the future for Kona 2011?  With the Ford Ironman Demo Days sold out this year in record timing, vendors plan to be back with a more significant presence in 2011. In preparation for this growing need, Ironman and  wattieink have partnered up for the 2011 event.

The count gives the industry a scope of the previous year’s buying trends and an idea of who the players will be for the following year.)

THE UNDERWEAR RUN. Oct 7th (hosted by Multisports.com)

YOU GOTTA CHECK THIS VIDEO OUT, PEOPLE.  It's flippn' awesome!

ALL ABOUT THE UNDIES RUN.

The Underwear Run was started in 1997 by Roch Frey and Paul Huddle. The run takes place Thursday, October 7th at 8am- just prior to Ironman Hawaii which takes place on Saturday, October 9th.  The run starts and finishes at Pacific Vibrations.  Donations support the West Hawaii Special Olympics and the Hale Mua Cultural Group.

The Undies Run was started at first to poke fun at triathletes who wore their training gear such as speedos, spandex and sports bras not just while training but out shopping, at coffee shops and almost anywhere. Some say “If you are going to run in your Speedos you might as well run in your underwear.”

The run is like a tradition to all who go out to race and spectate Ironman Kona and its proceeds go to local smaller charities on the island.  Now, there's something to run for!  Hope to see y'all there!

Janus. A reason to race.

As a global investment manager, Janus goes the distance to seek the best and brightest investment opportunities. That’s why they created the Janus Charity Challenge, a signature Ironman fundraising program that empowers Ironman athletes to race and raise money in honor of a charity they are personally passionate about.

You can make a difference in an athlete’s race day experience and beyond by going to JanusCharityChallenge.com today and making a donation in support of one of the over 40 participating athletes. Join the Janus Charity Challenge and become part of a grassroots movement that has raised more than $46 million for hundreds of charities nationwide through the power of Ironman.

Good luck in Kona, racers!

COMPEX SPORT ELITE: Video. Recover Like the Pros!

Everyday athletes or even the occasional weekend warriors are likely to watch their favorite sporting event and wonder “How can I perform at that level?” By adding Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) - also referred to as Neuromuscular Stimulation - to their training routine, individuals have the opportunity to join the ranks of elite athletes worldwide who have incorporated EMS as part of their training regimen.

Check out this video of professional triathlete, Heather Jackson using Compex and be sure to visit the Compex Booth during Kona week at the Kona Demo Day Expo.
