Specialized Bicycles to be at Kona Demo Days Expo

Swim. BIKE. Run. Repeat Until Desired Results. Triathlon: Swim, Specialized, Run. Or, that is how they like to think of it anyway. Specialized. They know bikes.   Rasmus Henning, Ben Hoffman and Chris McCormack have relied on Specialized Bicycles all year in preparation for Kona. They’ll be counting on the ultra-efficient and aerodynamic S-Works Shiv to get their best bike split possible.

Specialized Bicycles will be at the Kona Demo Days Expo all week with pro-athlete autograph signings - so visit the Specialized expo booth to learn more about the criminally-fast Specialized bikes.

Check out I AM SPECIALIZED (the athletes' page) and catch Rasmus Henning's video on his preparation for Hawaii.  Visit: http://iamspecialized.com/triathlon

A Story Worth Sharing...The Blazeman.

Welcome to Blazeman's War on ALS!  A Multi-Sport Movement to End Lou Gehrig's Disease

The Blazeman Foundation for ALS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It is a family foundation that serves to carry out the vision of its namesake and founder, the late Jonathan "Blazeman" Blais. Contributions to the foundation are tax deductible.

The mission of the Blazeman Foundation for ALS is 1) to raise awareness about ALS by leveraging the energy, commitment and compassion of the multi-sport community and 2) to raise necessary funds to be directed into cutting-edge scientific research to find treatments and an eventual cure for ALS...So Others May Live.

This year, 2010, The Blazeman Foundation for ALS has a Blazeman Warrior that has raised funds through the Janus Charity racing in Kona.  His name is Dr. Bob Heins, wearing #199, a dentist in the age group 70-74.

Rob Spinosa, wearing #1059, lost his mom Fern to ALS last year...he too, has raised awareness for this disease rolling accross the finish line and raising funds for research.

Lauren Hunt, Blazeman Warrior wearing #1108, won a lottery slot and is currently raising funds for the Blazeman Foundation for ALS. http://www.active.com/donate/teamblazeman/blazemanLHunt1

THIS IS TRULY SPECIAL: If you don't know the story already- you have to read through its entirety.  You can do this at: http://www.waronals.com.  But briefly, Jonathan S. Blais was given a death sentence in the form of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in May of 2005, at the age of 33. Jon accepted his diagnosis and decided to do incredible things with it. One thing he did even before he was diagnosed- he dedicated himself to helping disadvantaged youngsters by using the sport of triathlon.  In 2006 the WTC made his number 179 an honorific number athletes could apply for each year- it was reserved for an athlete that embodied the tenents of Jon...putting a cause before themselvesWearing #179 this year is Cherie Gruenfeld, an age grouper who has dedicated herself to help disadvantaged youngsters by using the sport of triathlon.

Our expo booth will be debuting our new Blazeman Warrior Bike shirt available to all on our estore by October 1st!  Please visit: http://www.ourshirtsarethebest.com/index.php?cPath=66&osCsid=b34b05b1260bc9a7899e9556d31e5166

CompuTrainer Introduces New Product in 2011.

New CompuTrainer models are available for use with Hand Cycles.  They combine all the
usual hardware and software elements of the standard CompuTrainer models with a new
wider stand design.   The new stand design accommodates hand cycles with no
modifications needed.

Indoor training on a CompuTrainer meets many of a hand cyclist's important needs.
Being indoors,  safety is not an issue.  The quality of training is unequalled---superb accuracy,  extreme durability, and a wide choice of training options including watts/time intervals, virtually unlimited choice of road courses, and interactive real course videos
that put you on the course on race day.  Time efficient---since the training site is your home, there's no need to transport the cycle to a safe and challenging location.   Standard cyclists are guaranteed a 10% increase in speed----hand cyclists will experience an
increase of, as yet, unknown magnitude.

Somnio Running Shoes

Somino Running Shoes will be at Kona Demo Days Expo!

They will be running free computerized gait analysis at the expo as well as demoing our shoes. They are challenging both athletes and spectators to have their gait analyzed in their current running or racing shoes and perform the same analysis in a pair of our shoes that are customized to their exact biomechanical needs. With their system of customization, athletes can actually build a left shoe that is different from the right (and vice versa) to truly tune into their individual needs.

How cool is THAT?

The idea is very similar to that of custom bike fittings: improved alignment=increased performance. With correct alignment, the body uses less energy to self-correct, which leads to more effort efficient running and faster races.
They will have our lightweight trainer (the Pacemaker) to demo, and samples of their racing shoe (the Hot Sauce Racer) which is coming out next season to try as well.

Stop by their booth and sneak peak at their full 2011 line.
