A Story Worth Sharing...The Blazeman.

Welcome to Blazeman's War on ALS!  A Multi-Sport Movement to End Lou Gehrig's Disease

The Blazeman Foundation for ALS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It is a family foundation that serves to carry out the vision of its namesake and founder, the late Jonathan "Blazeman" Blais. Contributions to the foundation are tax deductible.

The mission of the Blazeman Foundation for ALS is 1) to raise awareness about ALS by leveraging the energy, commitment and compassion of the multi-sport community and 2) to raise necessary funds to be directed into cutting-edge scientific research to find treatments and an eventual cure for ALS...So Others May Live.

This year, 2010, The Blazeman Foundation for ALS has a Blazeman Warrior that has raised funds through the Janus Charity racing in Kona.  His name is Dr. Bob Heins, wearing #199, a dentist in the age group 70-74.

Rob Spinosa, wearing #1059, lost his mom Fern to ALS last year...he too, has raised awareness for this disease rolling accross the finish line and raising funds for research.

Lauren Hunt, Blazeman Warrior wearing #1108, won a lottery slot and is currently raising funds for the Blazeman Foundation for ALS. http://www.active.com/donate/teamblazeman/blazemanLHunt1

THIS IS TRULY SPECIAL: If you don't know the story already- you have to read through its entirety.  You can do this at: http://www.waronals.com.  But briefly, Jonathan S. Blais was given a death sentence in the form of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in May of 2005, at the age of 33. Jon accepted his diagnosis and decided to do incredible things with it. One thing he did even before he was diagnosed- he dedicated himself to helping disadvantaged youngsters by using the sport of triathlon.  In 2006 the WTC made his number 179 an honorific number athletes could apply for each year- it was reserved for an athlete that embodied the tenents of Jon...putting a cause before themselvesWearing #179 this year is Cherie Gruenfeld, an age grouper who has dedicated herself to help disadvantaged youngsters by using the sport of triathlon.

Our expo booth will be debuting our new Blazeman Warrior Bike shirt available to all on our estore by October 1st!  Please visit: http://www.ourshirtsarethebest.com/index.php?cPath=66&osCsid=b34b05b1260bc9a7899e9556d31e5166
